Booking Terms
-
These terms apply to bookings made with Lo & Slo and to our Wild & Fired live-fire experiences: fire-led dining and experiences at Brook Hall Estate, off-site private events, private fire cheffing, cookery classes and residencies at other venues, and the Lo & Slo food truck. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Lo & Slo Group Ltd, trading as Lo & Slo and Wild & Fired. Wild & Fired is our live-fire experience brand.
By making a booking or paying a booking payment, you accept these terms. Some bookings have additional terms, set out in the relevant section below. For any hands-on live-fire cookery class, each participant also completes our safety waiver and medical declaration before taking part.
-
Most of our bookings are made by private individuals as consumers, and these terms are written with that in mind. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected by anything in these terms.
Where a booking is made by or on behalf of a business, venue, agent, tour operator or other organisation, the person making the booking confirms that they have authority to make it and to accept these terms, and that they accept responsibility for the obligations set out in the booking, the proposal and these terms, including payment, guest numbers, access and conduct. Business and trade bookings are not consumer bookings.
-
To secure your date we ask for a booking payment. A booking payment is the amount paid up front to reserve your date and cover our early planning and committed costs. Your booking is not confirmed until we have received it.
What is due to secure each booking type:
Wild & Fired cookery class (ticketed): full payment at booking. No further balance.
Private fire cheffing or Brook Hall experience: 50% booking payment, with the balance due 4 weeks before.
Lo & Slo food truck: 50% booking payment, with the balance due 4 weeks before.
Estate, castle, special event, fire theatre or residency: 30% booking payment, then 40% at 12 weeks, with the balance due 4 weeks before.
If you book within 4 weeks of the date, full payment is due at the time of booking. If a payment is not made by its due date, we may treat the booking as cancelled and release the date.
Final guest numbers and menu choices are confirmed at least 4 weeks before the event, or as agreed for residencies. The confirmed number is the minimum we charge for, as we order produce and arrange staffing on that basis. Increases are accommodated where possible and may cost more.
-
If you cancel, a cancellation charge applies. It reflects the reasonable, evidenced costs and commitments we have already made for your event. These may include planning time, supplier and produce commitments, staffing, travel, and the loss of other bookings we turned away to hold your date. These charges are a genuine estimate of our loss. They are not a penalty. Where we are able to save or recover any committed cost, including by re-letting your date, we reduce your charge to match.
Cancellation charges are calculated from the total booking value, unless stated otherwise. The amounts below are the most we will charge at each stage. Where our actual non-recoverable loss is lower, we charge less.
For ticketed cookery classes, which are paid in full at booking, the same principle applies. More than 4 weeks before, we keep only our committed costs. Closer to the date, the amount we keep increases, as shown below.
Wild & Fired cookery classes, private fire cheffing and Brook Hall experiences:
More than 4 weeks before: committed costs only.
2 to 4 weeks before: up to 50% of the total.
Less than 2 weeks before: up to the full amount.
Estate, castle, special event, fire theatre and residency:
More than 12 weeks before: booking payment, limited to committed costs.
8 to 12 weeks before: up to 40% of the total.
4 to 8 weeks before: up to 70% of the total.
Less than 4 weeks before: up to the full amount.
Lo & Slo food truck:
More than 30 days before: booking payment, limited to committed costs.
21 to 30 days before: up to 60% of the total.
14 to 20 days before: up to 75% of the total.
Less than 14 days before: up to the full amount.
Any balance due on cancellation is payable within 14 days. Moving a confirmed date is treated as a cancellation unless we agree the change in writing. A move depends on availability, may affect the price, and carries your payments across to the new date. If we cancel for a reason within our control, you receive a full refund.

Our Wild & Fired experiences at Brook Hall involve live fire, hot surfaces, hot embers and outdoor terrain. Taking part in live-fire activities involves inherent risks that are not caused by our negligence, and you agree to follow our safety briefing and instructions throughout. A waiver is required for participatory experiences.
Estate access, parking and terrain.
Brook Hall is a working estate with estate roads, lanes, outdoor terrain and parking areas, and some approaches are uneven or rough ground. Guests use these access routes, parking areas and grounds with care and at their own risk, except where loss or damage is caused by our negligence. We recommend suitable footwear and care after dark.Alcohol.
We are a food-led experience. Where alcohol is offered, including beverage pairings chosen to complement the menu, it is served under and subject to the conference centre liquor licence held in respect of Brook Hall Estate, and only within the licensed area, during permitted hours and in line with the licence conditions. Any pairing included in your package is served as part of that licensed service. Service is at our discretion and is not an open bar. We may decline or stop serving any guest on safety grounds or where they appear intoxicated, and we may run an event on an alcohol-free basis. Guests must be 18 or over to be served alcohol and we may ask for proof of age. Where an alcohol pairing cannot be served, for any reason, we may offer a suitable non-alcoholic pairing, an alternative, or another reasonable substitution. -
This section covers Wild & Fired events, private fire cheffing, cookery classes and residencies at a venue you arrange.
Access and suitability.
You, or your venue, are responsible for providing safe and suitable access for our team, our vehicle and our equipment, and a safe, level working area with enough space, a water supply, separation from guests, and separation from anything flammable. You confirm the venue permits live-fire cooking and that you hold any permission the venue, landlord or local authority requires. The venue's facilities and standards.
The venue is responsible for its own facilities, including any accommodation, and for keeping them maintained, serviced and presented to a professional standard in keeping with the experience we provide. We are not responsible for the venue's facilities or their condition. Our safety assessment.
We assess the site before or on arrival and may move, pause, delay or stop the activity, in whole or in part, where we reasonably judge it is unsafe or not as agreed. Where we cannot proceed for this reason, we keep a charge reflecting our committed, non-recoverable costs and refund the balance.Live fire indoors.
We do not cook over live fire indoors except where agreed in advance with confirmed, adequate ventilation. Open flame indoors produces carbon monoxide and smoke and can be dangerous, or fatal, in an enclosed space. Most indoor settings are unsuitable and we will not put guests or our team at that risk.Equipment.
Our cooking kit, fire equipment and serviceware remain our property. At off-site events you are responsible for our equipment from set-up to collection, and agree to meet the reasonable cost of repair or replacement for loss or damage caused by you or your guests, beyond normal wear. Where equipment is left on site outside our attended service hours, you are responsible for keeping the area secure and for ensuring that guests, venue staff and others do not move, use or interfere with it. We do not charge for damage that is not caused by you or your guests. Our team and scope.
Our team is provided only during the agreed service times, not for the whole day or stay. Only what is set out in your written proposal is included.Alcohol.
Our Brook Hall licence applies only at Brook Hall Estate and does not travel to other venues. Alcohol at an off-site event may be served only where the venue permits it and holds any licence or permission required, and that licence and permission are the responsibility of you and your venue. -
Our cookery classes involve live fire, hot surfaces, sharp knives, heat and outdoor conditions. Taking part involves inherent risks, including burns and cuts, that are not caused by our negligence, and you agree to follow our safety briefing and all instructions throughout.
Every participant completes a short safety waiver and medical declaration before taking part. We keep appropriate safety equipment available at every class. If emergency support is needed, we will contact emergency services. A class does not run unless our safety equipment is in place. We may ask anyone we reasonably consider unfit to handle fire or knives safely, including through alcohol, not to take part, and we may keep a charge reflecting our committed costs.
Participants must follow our instructions on preparation, cooking, hygiene and allergen controls at all times. The minimum age for hands-on participation is 18 unless we have agreed otherwise in writing in advance. Where a younger participant is permitted, a parent or guardian must consent, be present throughout and accept responsibility for them.
Nothing in this section affects your rights where harm is caused by our negligence. We take reasonable care of you at all times.
Your information.
The waiver and medical declaration collect information such as your name, date of birth, emergency contact, and any condition, allergy, pregnancy, medication or mobility matter relevant to your safety. We use it to support guest safety and emergency response. It may be seen by our team where needed for safety and emergency response, and may be shared with emergency services or insurers where necessary. We keep this information for up to 3 years after the event, unless we need to keep it longer for legal, insurance or safety reasons. It is not used for marketing. -
Dates.
Food truck dates are by arrangement and subject to availability that we confirm. Tell us your preferred date and we will offer dates that work for both of us. Dates are not held until booked and paid.Booking and payment.
A 50% booking payment secures the date, with the balance due 4 weeks before. Bookings made within 4 weeks are paid in full at booking.Guest numbers.
Numbers may be increased subject to capacity, but cannot fall below the agreed minimum.Travel and access.
Travel is included within 5 miles of BT47 5QP, then £1 per mile beyond that. The truck needs solid, level ground with access for a vehicle around 23 feet long, kept clear throughout for safe operation and exit.Power.
Cooking runs on onboard LPG. A 240V mains supply is needed for lighting. You are responsible for suitable access and power.Service.
Service runs within the agreed window (typically lunch 12:00 to 14:00 and dinner 17:00 to 19:00). Service capacity is usually up to around 70 portions per hour, depending on menu, access, power, guest flow and event conditions. Service cannot be paused, restarted or extended unless agreed in advance.Menu.
Each booking includes two items from the current menu. Where more than six vegetarian or vegan meals are required, this may be treated as an additional menu option because it affects preparation, stock and service flow. Minor substitutions may be made for seasonal supply.Alcohol.
Alcohol is not served from the food truck, and we hold no licence to do so.Conduct.
Abusive, unsafe or threatening behaviour towards our team or others may end service without refund. You are responsible for maintaining a safe service area. -
Please tell us about any allergies or dietary requirements in advance. We take allergens seriously and will provide allergen information for the ingredients we supply.
We cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment. Our kitchens, fire-cooking areas and food truck handle multiple allergens, and cross-contact is possible. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options are prepared with care, but unless we have expressly confirmed in writing that a dish is suitable for a specific allergy, they should not be treated as allergen-free or as safe for a person with that allergy.
In our cookery classes, where you handle and cook food yourself, we show you how to do so safely, and you must follow our instructions on preparation, cooking, hygiene and allergen controls. We are not responsible for participant handling or cooking where our instructions have not been followed.
-
We rely on seasonal produce and specialist suppliers, and quotes are based on supplier prices at the time of booking. Where the cost or availability of key ingredients changes significantly, we may make reasonable substitutions of equal quality and value, and we will discuss any change with you in advance where we can.
-
We cook in most weather, and our experiences are designed to run outdoors. We may reschedule, relocate, pause or stop an event where weather or site conditions make it unsafe. Unsafe conditions may include a named weather warning, wind that is unsafe around fire structures, lightning, flooding, unsafe access routes or ground, or any conditions that prevent safe food handling, fire management, set-up or evacuation.
If we reschedule and the new date does not suit you, you may cancel and we will refund everything except our committed, non-recoverable costs, such as produce, staffing, planning time, supplier commitments and other reasonable non-recoverable costs. We are not responsible for failure or delay caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including extreme weather, fire, flood, public health restrictions, power failure, supply or transport disruption, or government action.
For off-site events, unless it is included in your written proposal, suitable shelter, flooring, lighting, guest cover, power and safe access are the responsibility of you and your venue.
-
We hold public liability insurance and can provide a certificate on request.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. This includes your statutory rights as a consumer, which are not affected.
Subject to the above, and so far as the law allows, our total liability arising out of a booking is limited to the total amount you have paid for that booking, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. This limit does not apply to a consumer in any way that would be unfair under consumer law.
-
These terms are governed by the law of Northern Ireland, and disputes may be dealt with by the courts of Northern Ireland. Where your event takes place in the Republic of Ireland, the law of the Republic of Ireland may apply to matters relating to that event. In either case, any mandatory consumer rights available to you are not affected.
